Jian Shi Cortesi, who manages China and Asia equity strategies, has once again been selected for Citywire’s list of top 30 female managers.

The list is compiled from Citywire’s database of 2108 female fund managers based on managers’ ratings consistency over the last five years.

This is the fifth year that Jian has featured in the Citywire Alpha Female Top 30 list, having also been included in 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Jian Shi Cortesi has won two awards at Investment Week’s Women in Investment Awards. Jian was chosen as the winner in both the ‘Fund Manager of the Year (large firms)’ and ‘International Investment Woman of the Year’ categories.

The Women in Investment Awards honour the inspiring achievements of women across all parts of the UK investment industry with a specific international category.

The ‘Fund Manager of the Year (large firms)’ award is designed to serve as an inspiration for other women to consider a career in fund management. In selecting the winner for the ‘International Investment Woman of the Year’ category, the judges considered Jian’s overall achievements that have positively influenced women and helped attract or retain them in the sector.

Paul McNamara received his gold medal in the Absolute Return Emerging Markets segment, joined by Tim Love in the Emerging Market Equities category and Niall Gallagher for his European Equities strategy.

Anthony Smouha, CEO of Atlanticomnium and manager of GAM’s credit opportunities strategy, is one of five managers from across the industry nominated for FE FundInfo’s Alpha Manager of the Year 2021.

Giovanni D’Alesio, Head of Research for Alternative Investment Solutions (AIS), was selected to feature in the Citywire Selector 100 for the second consecutive year.

The Citywire Selector 100 lists the most influential names in pan-European fund selection, showcasing those who have helped shape the selection business alongside rising talents who are making their mark in their respective regions and beyond.

The Alpha Manager list, which is compiled each year by global fund data and technology provider FE fundinfo, identifies and celebrates the top 10 per cent of UK retail-facing managers, based on their entire career performance.

This year, GAM was joint third in the table of fund groups with the most Alpha Managers with a total of six.
