New Head of IR at Julius Baer

Dear business colleagues and friends,
Given the ever-increasing importance of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations in the new Julius Baer Group and the steadily rising intensity and complexity in these areas, we decided to establish separate leaderships for the two functions some time ago.
As Chief Communications Officer, continuing to report to Hans de Gier, I will concentrate on Corporate Communications going forward and hand over the IR function to our new Head of Investor Relations, Alexander van Leeuwen. I will continue, however, to be responsible for managing relationships with selected shareholders. During the past many years it was both a challenge and pleasure to build and lead the IR function at Julius Baer with the creation of the new Julius Baer Group being the most recent climax. During this time I was given the opportunity to establish close relations with the global financial community and particularly our esteemed institutional shareholder base.
Starting 1 April 2008, Alexander van Leeuwen has taken over the responsibility for IR. He joined us from ABN AMRO where he led a successful career in Investment Banking, Corporate Development and Investor Relations. During his seventeen years at the Dutch banking group, Alexander has gained significant international experience, having been posted to London, New York, Amsterdam and, most recently, to Chicago as Head of Investor Relations North America. Together with his colleague, Minal Patel, who has been part of the IR team since 2006, Alexander will report to Dieter Enkelmann, Group CFO.
Some of you might already have met Alexander during his earlier days, most of you will get to know him in the coming months. I hope you join me in welcoming Alexander and will be kind enough to pass on to him the trust you placed in me, for which I thank you most sincerely.
